Non-Renewal of UpToDate
Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 03:44PM The library I work at has decided not to renew its subscription to UpToDate. Given the reasons listed in this release (some of which I've listed below), I completely (agree w/ and) support the decision.
- UpToDate reviews 40% of its content every 4 months, whereas its competitors update daily.
- UpToDate presents specialist opinions from acknowledged experts, however, it does not make clear the evidence base for its recommendations nor does it provide links to relevant journal articles and systematic reviews.
- UpToDate does not maintain an archive of its content, so there is no evidence at a later date to support decisions made based on its contents.
With our non-renewal of UpToDate, Dynamed - of which I am fond - is now our primary point-of-care resource.

The UpToDate subscription was, as mentioned, continued by the medical school.
